August 2, 2022

I do love a Golden Retriever, and so it was great to have Leia joining me for her Pawfect Moments Experience in March 2022. The Pawfect Moments Experience includes  both an At Home Studio Style and an Outdoor Location Session, and we arranged Leia's sessions on two separate days in the same week so that things wouldn't be too overwhelming for her.

Studio Style Session

Leia's Studio Style session took place at her grand-pawrents home, and as usual I brought along a full studio set up with backdrop and lights to get those Studio Style portraits.

We soon discovered that Leia's favourite pose was lying down, so we got plenty of beautiful photos of her looking relaxed and comfortable!

Outdoor Location Session

Leia's humans wanted their Outdoor Location Session to take place in a place that was special to them - Wendover Woods near Aylesbury. The site is managed by Forestry England which means there are specific insurance requirements and a permit fee to be able to shoot there, but after a bit of paperwork, we had permission and met on a beautiful early Spring day.

At Wendover, Leia, Marion and Mark took me on one of their favourite walking routes, and we got some lovely shots of the beautiful Leia posing in all her favourite places. She was an absolute star on the day and I'm thrilled that her humans loved her images!

What Leia, Marion and Mark thought
I love to ask my clients (both canine and human) a little bit about them and what they thought of their Pawfect Moments Experience - so Leia, Marion and Mark have kindly answered a few questions for me:

How did Leia come to live with her humans?
My fur mum & dad came to visit me when I was 8 weeks old and as soon as I saw them, I knew they’d be lovely so I climbed on mums lap & they were smitten. We’ve all been in love ever since!

What's your favourite toy and why?
I am totally spoilt and have lots of toys. I am a Retriever so I love to welcome anyone with a little toy in my mouth. But my favourite is my ‘wazzer’ that I can play tug with my fur dad.

What would your human say is the naughtiest thing you've done?
I am a very good pup & now I’m 2 and all grown up I don’t do naughty stuff (unless you count stealing the inside of mums woolly slippers!) . And I do like to do things my way & in my own time.

What dog-friendly place would you recommend to your friends and why?
My favourite pub is the Dog House - they do the best halloumi fries!! I love the beach too - anywhere sandy is my favourite, though I’m a bit scared of the sea waves.

What's your favourite place to go for a walk?
I love chasing squirrels and following lovely smells and the bestest place is Wendover Woods.

What's your favourite thing to do with your human?
Snuggle. I love to lounge around with one or both of my hoomans stroking me. It’s sooo relaxing. Though I do love a good game of tug with dad and doing sillies on the floor with mum.

Why did you decide to bring your dog for a photo shoot?
We love family pictures - they remind us what’s important when work and other things get in the way.

What was your biggest worry about the photo shoot (either before booking or before the day)?
Leia has never had a long attention span & is motivated by her surroundings. Neither are helpful for a photoshoot!!

How was your experience on the day?
We had 2 fabulous shoots. One indoors and one at our favourite walking location, up Wendover Woods. We were so proud of Leia and Sandy captured lots of lovely shots.

What did you enjoy the most?
Being able to capture a memory of Leia in the woods that will always reflect our adventures together.

What did you think of your photo shoot? What was your favourite bit and why?
My favourite bit of the photoshoot was in Wendover Woods, when I was exploring the trees for smells

What did you think of the portraits/artwork you received?
The products are great. We have a fabulous double frame up on the wall, plus a few prints. The app was fab for being able to take our time and share images with family.

How did you feel when you first saw the photos from your photoshoot?
The photos were all wonderful & captured Leia as we know here.

What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking of booking a photoshoot for their dog?
Be brave and go for it, you won’t be disappointed. And allow plenty of time for the shoot.
