Summer means glorious fields of lavender stretching as far as the eye can see! This year I had some wonderful photoshoots in the lavender, kicking off with the handsome Bow and Otis, two gorgeous black Labradors!

Big brother Bow was 11 years old at the time of his photo shoot, so his human's priority was getting some beautiful portraits of him in his older years, but baby brother Otis aged nearly 2 made sure he got plenty of attention as well!

With two dogs it can sometimes be tricky to get them to pose together, particularly if it's not something that they're very used to doing, so we normally start the session with individual portraits.

Then, once they've got the idea, it's time to get them together for some images of both dogs together. Luckily Bow and Otis soon got the idea and we managed to capture some beautiful shots both individually and together.

I absolutely love photographing black dogs in the lavender as the colour provides such a contrast, it is great for capturing those really beautiful images for their humans!

What Bow, Otis and Kathryn thought
I love to ask my clients (both canine and human) a little bit about them and what they thought of their Lavender Fields Session - so Bow, Otis and Kathryn have kindly answered a few questions for me:

How did Bow & Otis come to live with their humans?
Bow: they selected the puppy who nibbled mums belt
Otis: they rehomed me at 15months as long as dad said yes. I won him over in 2 hours!

What's your favourite toy and why?
Otis: anything that isn’t a dog toy!

What would your human say is the naughtiest thing you've done?
Bow: I like swamp bathing and pretend I’m deaf at the same time
Otis: I chewed my human sisters new pink flamingo handbag. I love pink things!

What dog-friendly place would you recommend to your friends and why?
The Lake District!!! Good walks, pubs and cafes

What's your favourite place to go for a walk?
Woodlands

What's your favourite thing to do with your human?
Bow: anything food related!
Otis: cuddles I’m a big lap dog

Why did you decide to bring your dog for a photo shoot?
The lavender fields looked like an amazing backdrop and I’ve wanted a professional shoot done for a while

What was your biggest worry about the photo shoot (either before booking or before the day)?
2 dogs and managing them

How was your experience on the day?
Brilliant. It was such fun and we had a good laugh as well as getting fab photos.

What did you enjoy the most?
Lying down amongst the lavender, to hide smelling the wonderful scents

What did you think of your photo shoot? What was your favourite bit and why?
Such fun! Especially fun to look in opposite directions of each other, and leap over the lavender when I was supposed to be sitting still!

What did you think of the portraits/artwork you received?
Stunning

How did you feel when you first saw the photos from your photoshoot?
Emotional, such lovely images of my boys

What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking of booking a photoshoot for their dog?
Do it! It’s a wonderful experience, Sandie has lots of tricks up her sleeve to keep the dogs interested and ‘pose’ in different ways, and the outtakes are fun!
