Meet Sandie - your dog photographer - in 10 Questions!

Today I'm launching a new "Meet... in 10 Questions." blog series, introducing people from local and interesting pet-related businesses to you. So I thought I'd better set a good example and go first!!

Keep reading to find out a little more about me......

Tell us a little about yourself in a few brief sentences
I live in Wilbarston with my husband Nigel. We have a timeshare dog called Charlie (ok, he's really my Mum's but comes to stay with us once a year when she goes on holiday). I love reading and watching films, and am also learning Welsh in my spare time.

What is your favourite doggy character in a film/book & why?
Timmy from Famous Five. I loved the Famous Five books when I was a kid and wanted to be just like George, with a mongrel dog and having all those adventures. I even had a boy's name all picked out (best I could come up with was Andy!)

Share something that not many people know about you…
I've climbed to the top of a mountain to watch the sun rise. I worked at the Girlguiding world centre, Our Chalet, in Adelboden Switzerland, for 3 months when I was 21, and absolutely loved the experiences it gave me. I've also paraglided off the top of another mountain, hiked across a glacier, did a full body dip into a glacial lake (yes it was COLD) and abseiled down into a gorge in Switzerland, and hiked the Inca Trails in Peru. A little piece of my heart is always in the mountains, particularly in Switzerland.

What is your dream dog breed and why? Do you now or have you previously owned this breed?
Bernese Mountain Dog. They are such big, beautiful dogs, and remind me of my time in Switzerland. I've never owned one but would love to.

When did you start your business and what was your inspiration for doing so?
Officially April 2017, although I had been working on it for about 6 months previously. I have been an amateur photographer since I was 11 when a relative gave me my first SLR camera, half an hour's explanation of the settings and told me "always shoot manual!" It became a more serious hobby in the last five or six years, and then my best friend kept saying that I should make it a business. Finally I listened to her!!

Best piece of advice you have been given?
Make it work, then make it better.

What is your favourite local business / shop / restaurant and why?
I love the shop in our village. It's a proper village shop where everyone knows everyone, and there's a proper community which is so rare these days. They are planning to open a tea room in the summer which will be fantastic

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Passing my Qualification Panel with the Guild of Photographers. To know that my work had been judged at that level and passed was a massive achievement for me, and a real confidence boost that I was able to see myself on par with my peers in the industry. I cried a little that day!

What is your perfect day?
A day out in the sports car with my husband out in the wilds somewhere, mountains on one side and sea views on the other, and a nice seafood restaurant with a glass of wine to watch the sunset.

Tell me about your business and why people should use it.
I'm a specialist dog photographer and I'll help you capture those special memories with your four-legged friend to keep strong and close forever. It's so easy today to think that the snaps you take on your iphone are enough - and it's not until you can't take any more that you realise how important it is to capture those moments forever in the best possible way. My Pawfect Moments Experience is tailored to make sure you capture the unique character and adorable personality of your beloved fur-baby forever.
