1pm on the 21st of the month is always a bit nerve-wracking. That's when the Guild of Photographer's Image of the Month competition results are released, and we have to login to their website to get our results. There's a little nail-biting, a lot of refreshing of the page from about 12.45pm "just in case" they've pushed the button early, and hopefully some good results!
Normally I'm there at 1pm checking my results, but on May 21st I was spending the day with my sister, so I didn't actually check until about 40 minutes later. I hadn't been entirely happy with my entries for April, as I'd changed my mind on a couple of the images last minute, so I felt I'd rushed it and hadn't done my best.
So you could have knocked me over with a feather when I logged in to find a little "S" sitting over one of my images. "S" stands for Silver - my very first Silver Award since I started entering in January 2017 (ok, I'll admit it, I cried!)
This shot was taken during a litter shoot for Fleekform Working Springer Spaniels back in February, when the puppies were about 5 weeks old. You can read a bit more about the litter shoot here
I've been very successful with the Image of the Month competition in 2018. Along with the silver, I also received a Bronze Award for another litter shot in April, which brought my tally of Bronzes to 9 for 2018 - equalling my total for the whole of 2017 in just four months! I'm absolutely over the moon with this, and you can see all my award-winning images in my 2017 and 2018 award galleries.
The Image of the Month runs over 10 months in the year, so with another 6 months still to go (May's results will be released on 21st June), I'm hoping for a few more Bronzes and maybe even another Silver if I'm lucky. It's a rollercoaster of emotion with the highs and lows of competition, but I absolutely love it!
The Guild of Photographers Image of the Month competition is judged by a team of internationally recognised Judges. Each image is awarded a grading based on its own merits, and it is a highly respected industry competition.
