Tell us a little about yourself in a few brief sentences
Having had a life of preferring the company of animals to others has left me with a passion for dogs (and cats, horses, tortoises, sheep etc etc well, all of them!) that cannot be dulled.

I'm a mum of two stunning little crazy ass boys, living on a small holding on the Leicestershire/Warwickshire border along with the kindest man a girl could wish for. Oh, and two dogs, two cats, two horses, one unexpected foal (due sometime April/May 2020!), a large natural pond that houses a variety of wild birds, water voles, frogs and inherited carp and a Leopard tortoise. We live as mindfully of our environment as possible and just try.

What is your favourite doggy character in a film/book & why?
Lassie. Because that one dog taught millions of people that it is possible to listen to an animal. They might actually have something to say...

I am a trained Canine First Responder, Animal Communicator and Energy Healer

What is your dream dog breed and why? Do you now or have you previously owned this breed?
Mongrel. Because it is the soul of a dog that draws you to connect, not necessarily a 'Kennel Club' defined shape/purpose of dog. Some of the best dogs I have known are a Heinz57!

Over the years, our family have had all sorts of dogs. Some from pups, some rescues, some pedigree, some completely unknown breeding. But all are stunning in their own right for their own merits and quirks. Saying that... my big Labrador is an absolute King. But that's just who he is inside.

When did you start your business and what was your inspiration for doing so?
After a divorce and discovering a need to work around my beautiful boys, it became clear that running my own business was the most flexible way forward. But what kinda business?

So, I bought Dozy Dog as a going concern. A HUGE learning curve commenced...

I'd always tried to learn how to better understand my animals and as an owner, I'd try to find products to enhance (not limit) their life, so this became my mission. BUT, as I learnt more about the industry and how the process works, I became more focussed on finding products that are also not detrimental to our environment through their manufacture, transportation or materials. So, with an open mind and a happy heart, I lead Dozy Dog for the greater good by making pets happy! Without harming our beautiful planet...

Best piece of advice you have been given

What is your favourite local business / shop / restaurant and why?
Easy! The Eco Village at Market Harborough! Apart from the fact it is dog friendly throughout and has the best pet shop on the planet (tee hee hee), the ethos of the entire venue is just as it should be. It's a one-stop-shop for day to day living, with a butcher, grocer, take-away curries, organic milk and eggs, cafe, toy shop, stationary cupboard, tool kit store, cake heaven, toiletries, store cupboard essentials. You name it!

And every single item available to buy has been selected with a real thought process to consider its environmental impact, its quality and practicality, its durability, its usability, its value for money....These are the credentials that all businesses should base decisions on, not just its profitability. And it is a fabulous community hub as each part of the Eco Village is an individual Trader with their own area of expertise.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Growing into the person I am just now.

What is your perfect day?
Being at home with my beautiful family (human or otherwise)

Tell us a little about your business and why people should use it?
So much thought and effort goes into what we do at Dozy Dog. Once this awful Coronavirus has gone and we can re-open our little Eco Pet Shop up fully again at the Eco Village, just come over to say hi, have a mooch and ask whatever questions come to mind. Every pet, every family, every home situation is unique and I'll always do my best to help find the best products to suit. In the meantime, we're just operating remotely via email, phone and online shop as best as we can (whilst home schooling!)
